This dish brings me back to my childhood. I no longer buy “longanisa” in my local asian market. I just make sure I always have the ingredients to make my own “homemade longanisa”. This is a popular “breakfast” dish in the Philippines.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 lbs. ground pork
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3 tsp garlic powder
4 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp Maggi seasoning sauce or Knorr seasoning sauce
1 tbsp of hot sauce/tabasco
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together. After, stick the pork mixture in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
Shape the pork mixture into little sausages (like the shape of pork sausage breakfast links).
Stick in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Cook in a non-stick pan on medium heat.
Cook one side until brown and then roll to cook other sides. Sausage is ready when all side are brown.
When cooked, you can drain them in a cookie rack or paper towels.
Serve with steamed white rice, fried egg and chopped tomatoes.
This recipe makes about 30 sausages.
